On Feb. 24, 2019, the Salina Journal reported Dighton Republican Rep. Don Hineman is heading the Rural Revitalization Committee, a new Kansas House initiative. Through social media, Hineman is raising awareness of how rural population losses affect the communities’ schools, businesses, and local governments. The committee is investigating the causes for rural population losses, as well as developing a new long-range transportation plan that is more inclusive to rural communities. Hineman urges all Kansans to support revitalization efforts of rural Kansas, as it will enrich the entire state.
