Salina City Commission Authorizes Tax Funding for Revitalization Project

On Jan. 17, 2017, the Salina Journal reported on a Salina City Commission vote authorizing over $150 million of tax funding to develop business and tourism projects in downtown Salina. Private and public funding, state-issued STAR bonds, Community Improvement District sales tax and Tax Increment Financing taxes will combine to support the downtown redevelopment, which includes the Salina Fieldhouse, a Homewood Suites by Hilton® hotel, the Downtown Streetscape project, several restaurants, The Alley and America’s Crossroads Car Collection Museum, to name a few.

Supported by several area residents and business leaders in attendance at the Commission vote, the unanimous 5-0 authorization will allow Salina to attract and retain business and residents to the city, effectively building a stronger community through economic development and additional employers.
